Okay, here's my advice. First, for anyone who isn't comfortable with their doctor, CHANGE NOW. There is no law that says you have to stay with a specific ob/gyn, especially if you aren't comfortable with them. You will have enough stress and confusion during this time, there is no need to compound that with someone you don't like.

As for knowing what to expect, that's simple. Expect anything. Believe it or not, your instincts will kick in almost automatically. I took me about a week before I could tell which of my son's cries meant he was hungry, which meant he needed to be changed, which meant he was tired, etc. Regardless of your age, you will be your child's mother, and that will be the most amazing thing you've ever done. Holding your child in your arms for the first time (and every time thereafter!) gives you the warmest, most wonderful feeling in all the world.
