Default She eats constantly

My three month old has always been a frequent nurser. I thought it would taper off as she got older, but she is still eating constantly! I know I have plenty of milk, but she eats as frequently as every 45 minutes sometimes. It's crazy. I think she "snacks", but I don't want to deny her food if she's hungry.

Hi, my son also nurses very frequently. He is 7 wks old. How old is your little one? I try to space out his feedings during the day (try to distract him), but usually end up feeding him every 2 hours and even more frequenly than that in the evenings.

Every 2 hours is not uncommon. You have to be careful with the more frequent eating. She's probably sucking for comfort more than eating for food. Try to wait a little longer between feedings. Take her out for a walk in the stroller, let someone play with her a little while, and see if you can make it for the two hours.

Oh I'm sure she uses me as her pacifier. I guess I just have to be strong and make her wait longer between feedings. I honestly think she likes to nurse when she's bored.

Hungry little thing isn't she. To me that seems a bit frequent to be hungry. Sounds like she likes the comfort of the breast. Maybe try a pacifier. Oh BTW does she have allergies like seasonal allergies? (ie hayfever) When people have allergies they don't get enough oxygen so it makes their body tell them they're hungry.

She won't take a pacifier. Neither would my eldest. I'm not sure if she has allergies or not. She has a bit of a cold these past few days and she's been wanting to nurse even more, so I bet that has something to do with it.

Oh, a cold? Then all bets are off--just let her nurse to her heart's content and get rid of that cold soon.
