Default How Long Will You Breastfeed?

How long do you plan to breastfeed your infant? One of my biggest regrets is that I was unable to breastfeed my son while he was in the hospital, and with everything that was going on, I simply didn't think to continue pumping for when he was released. Thus he went on formula fairly early out of necessity rather than choice. If I had been able to continue breastfeeding I was planning to breastfeed until about 1 year old. I have a friend however who breastfed her son until he was almost 4. To me that's a little too far. What do you other moms (and dads!) think?

My eldest daughter weaned herself at 7 months. She was just simply no longer interested in nursing and I could not keep her focused on feeding. It was becoming stressful so I let her move to a bottle. With my youngest, I am hoping to nurse for at least a year. I'm not sure how long I would be comfortable nursing her after that. I have that goal of a year and then we will see.

Well, I planned on at least a year and here it is almost three years later and I am still breastfeeding my twins! Not much but we still are. I never thought I would be doing it this long!

It's funny but by the time a year came around I was too tired to think about how to wean. Also by that time it was second nature now I don't even think about it--I can't even remember what it's like not too!

Oh and I only have twins no singletons so I have no idea whether it's harder or not--of course I suspect it is. LOL...
