How'd you chose a name for your baby?
With my first daughter her name just popped into my head out of nowhere. With my second daughter the naming process was months of fighting and negotiating with relatives. It seemed that everyone felt entitled to pass judgment on the names we chose for one reason or another.

Re: How'd you chose a name for your baby?
I had the name Abram in mind right from the beginning. It's a very biblical name, however that's not why I chose it. It jsut felt right and I couldn't really say where it came from...just the perfect choice for our son. I've only known one other Abram and he was an older gentleman who our Abe got to know quite well. They struck up a friendship and we always referred to them as Big Abe & Little Abe.

Re: How'd you chose a name for your baby?
We had decided on Luke if it happened to be a boy (but the ultrasound blew that away). I've always liked the gospel of Luke best in the Bible.
Choosing a girl's name was harder. We wanted a strong, non-cutsie name. We wanted a name fit for a leader. I actually read her chapters from my political science and philosophy textbooks while she was still in the womb. We both liked Eleanor, but thought it was too dated. So we chose Elaine. One of her first words was Dee Dee. And that's all she wanted to be called for months afterward. Go figure!

Danielle that's so funny, my eldest daughter's name is Delia and we call her Dee Dee.

Re: How'd you chose a name for your baby?
In my family the woman chooses the girl's name and the guy chooses the boy's name. Do you know if you're gonna have a boy or a girl? If you don't know already, do you want to know?

Time to hit the library and check out baby name books! I really liked the book "Beyond Jennifer and Jason". It's a really neat guide to great names.

Re: How'd you chose a name for your baby?
Our naming process went fairly easily. My husband was an only child, and the last male in his family, so we were ecstatic when we found out we were expecting a boy. We named him Nicklas, after his father, and Alexander after his grandfather and great-grandfather who were both Alex's but went by "Al" and "Lex" to avoid confusion. Luckily, we just get to call our angel Alex. It will be a bit confusing when he gets a little older, but we think it's worth it. Thus we have Nicklas Alexander!

Re: How'd you chose a name for your baby?
Even before we started to get pregnant, we had 4 names picked out, 2 boy and 2 girls names. However as we were pregnant, we decided to look online through names and different things. We then ended up with three names, only one of them was one of our originals. We finally made our decision and it seems to fit our daughter perfectly. She just doesn't seem to fit the other two now, so I guess we just got a feeling for the right one.

Re: How'd you chose a name for your baby?
My babies' names come from their father (as both were boys). However, if we will have a girl, it will definitely come from my name.
