Default No. of Hours of Labor

Just curious, when I was about to give birth to my younger son, I was affected by the other pregnant women in the labor room who stayed for days and hours with the pain they were feeling. For me, it is always different. I don't feel much pain and longer pain in the labor room than in the delivery room.

What about you, how many hours of labor do you usually experience?

With the first pregnancy I was in labor for about 12 hours before delivering. Second pregnancy I think went about 9 hours before I underwent an emergency c-section.

I only have one delivery to go on, but that resulted in 24 hours of labor before undergoing a c-section. Needless to say, that same doctor will NOT be delivering any more of my children.

24 hours! You must have been totally exhausted and at the end of your rope! Did you at least have pain relief?

That was what I have learned during my last labor, they stayed there in the labor room with all the pain for hours and days. It really makes one very exhausted when it is time to deliver. In my case, it was in the delivery room that I was exhausted coz I really can't push my baby out. It was good that another doctor came in and pushed my abdomen. It should be done to me so that my baby can get out.

I honestly can't remember with my first two - God's grace I guess.

With the last baby, I was in heavy labor (where I actually felt uncomfortable) for about two or three hours. And I only pushed 4 1/2 times. If they were all like that then I'd probably have my own litter!

I was very lucky, it was just about 6 hours for me... maybe a little less. My daughter was born 5 weeks early and weighed 4 lb. 13 oz. but it felt like a 10 pound baby, I guarantee!

I was fortunate - Abe was a c-section baby. He was a preemie, so it was a stressful delivery, however all turned out very well. I was in the recovery room with a woman who had beenin labor over a day and a half - I just didn't understand how they could ahve let her go that long....

I do remember that with my first son, I was in active labor (although not severe) for two weeks. Right after I first started having contractions, we had a cold snap. Apparently, he didn't appreciate that. For two weeks, you could time my contractions every 3 to 5 minutes. Three trips to the hospital later, they FINALLY said I was ready. We came into the hospital at 6:30 am and I had him at 8:54 pm. Other than the actual times, I can't tell you much about the delivery.
