That is horrible Tigriz. Maybe she was from the "children should be seen and not heard" school of thought.
I have gotten that comment about my 7 year old son who is autistic. He does not make any rude noises, does not yell in public (well, not too often), just babbles a bit and talks incoherantly. I have had people tell me "Will you tell him to shut up? Really! Make such noises in public!"
I just tell them "Nope, he has every right to talk. I will, however, tell YOU to shut up. Really! Being so rude to strangers and discriminatory against the disabled!" (not that they are necessarily, but it always makes them mad)

That was not a good thing that happened to you, Melos. Perhaps I just have to be thankful that I didn't experience such thing during my previous pregnancies.

Eh... people are ignorant about disabled people really. Anything that upsets their perfect world view should not be put in front of them. (Some people really think that way I think.) I get people glaring at me all the time and comments about 'not controlling your son' when he gets a little upset or overly playful when in public. I really really try to stay unaffected and not get mad at them.
Many times I just smile and say "He's autistic. Would you like to ask any questions so you understand better?"

I had a nurse tell me she hoped my second would be the opposite sex of my first, "So you can stop." One of the reasons I never visited that clinic again.

I can't imagine why women, who have delivered 2 or 3 kids and sometimes more than that many years ago, act so negatively when they find out that one of their colleagues is pregnant. Some ppl are quite nice but others just act as if we pregnant ppl are pests.

Wow, I can't recall ever having a negative experience with strangers. So sorry some of you had those awful experiences.

I can't even think of something I'd say in a case like
that, I'd be too shocked! What I'd LIKE to do is get all animated
like with flinging my arms around and do some baby-babble of my
own where she couldn't understand me and hopefully she'd end
up feeling foolish and being the one to rush away instead of an
embarrassed me.

I'd also like to say "Wow, I REALLY pity any children YOU ever
raised!" but I doubt I'd have the nerve.
