Pregnancy Complications
Some women experience some complications during pregnancy. Some complications of pregnancy, like gestational diabetes and anemia in pregnancy can easily be prevented. If you have a preexisting condition, like diabetes, it may be necessary to make some changes to your usual treatment regime, which will help keep you and your baby healthy.
Bleeding during pregnancy, often an early pregnancy complication, can be a sign of trouble because there might be other causes for the blood.
Any other complications that you know of and how we can deal with them?

Re: Pregnancy Complications
I had to deal with toxemia... elevated blood pressure. Preeclampsia is the high blood pressure and a high amount of protein in the urine. It usually starts after the first 4 months if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Pregnancy Complications
Well my complication was very rare, but if anyone else is experiencing it, it's great to have someone to talk with, so I will go ahead and mention it. I had cholestasis of pregnancy. It had to do with elevated liver enzyme counts and extremely awful itching. If anyone wants to know anything more, just ask.

Re: Pregnancy Complications
Childbirth is really dangerous and sometimes what I hear from old people that when one gives birth, "You're one step ahead to death." It is somewhat true and that it is not only during delivering the baby but even before and specifically during the 9 months of conception. Mothers are really heroes in their own way.

Hear hear! I vote that feline receives the quote of the week

outsiders don't seem to realize this!

Re: Pregnancy Complications
I have recently learned of something called symphasis pubis dysfunction. It is when there is severe pelvic and groin pain during and sometimes after pregnancy. I believe that I have this problem. From what I gather off the internet, most US doctors don't really recognize this as a major problem, but in Britain there a lot more resources for the condition.
If another mom hadn't mentioned this on another board that I have visited, I probably wouldn't have found any info on it. Supposedly many doctors think that this is just a regualr part of pregnancy. But severe pain should not be a "regular" symptom.
Just this morning I woke up hardly able to walk from the pain in my groin and hips. It's just awful. And now I have to go to work and stand on my feet all day. There isn't much I can do for it either, short of seeing a chiropractor which my insurance probably won't cover.

Re: Pregnancy Complications
Just reading your post ferby03 reminded me of a time during my pregnancy when I was like that. I could barely get in and out of the car, let alone walk, my pelvic area hurt so bad. I finally went to the doctor at midnight, they did a stress test and told me nothing was wrong. So I went back home to suffer through it for a few more days. It did finally go away though.

Re: Pregnancy Complications
This is my second pregnancy, but during my first pregnancy I had extremely rare complications that couldnt be connected to my genes after several hundred genetic tests. My son had a omphalocile ( an opening in your rib cage where some of your organs pertrude into a sac) A diaphramtic hernia which was an opening in your diaphram where my sons stomich and bowel had moved up into his chest making his lungs so underdeveloped.... He died two days after he was born... he cudnt breath...... the specialist told me she had never seen it in a baby before...they told me it was an accident of nature...but now im pregnant with my second and everything looks good so far .. I hope no one has those problems if anyone needs more info or has any of these problems.. just ask i've done extensive research into this.

Re: Pregnancy Complications
I am 18 weeks pregnant now. I started bleeding without any pain or any sign of a problem 2 days back. I had an urgent scan done and it showed that a thin layer of my placenta is lower down near my cervix and it was bleeding from there. Now I am on bedrest and hopefully everything would be fine.
