I went with a Winnie the Pooh theme with my first, because I was in a rush to start decorating at the beginning of the pregnancy before I knew the sex. Plus it works well for subsequent babies, if they turned out to be the opposite sex. Of course, this isn't the case because we are having another girl. The walls are painted sweet pea green w/ a Pooh border and there are white curtains. We have Pooh bedding and a Pooh lamp and few stuffed animals, etc. to match.

We are fixing up the spare bedroom for our first daughter. She picked out pink for the walls. I'm going to paint a flower border and frame some old fashioned prints as well as some old embroidered handkerchiefs to decorate the walls.

you're probably right about the baby not caring about the wallpaper, but isn't there one special thing you remember from your childhood room?

Mine is a macrame clown wall hanging that my aunt made and a panda bear rug that my dad hooked.

I am making sure my daughter has some special things like that for her room. My one friend cross stitched a quilt for me and I am stitching a picture to frame for the wall. My aunt is cross stitching a picture with all the birth details on it and I have a couple og handmade blankets from my grandma. My sister also hooked a rug for the nursery. I am glad that my daughter will have so many special things in her room that she will be able to cherish for a long time.
