Cholestasis happens during last few months of pregnancy. The reason behind this is some functions of hormones which slow down the movement of bile through the bile ducts. The most obvious symptom is itching all over the body. No rash develops but if the situation is various severe the doctor may suggest some medicine. Normal creame or lotions can sooth the body to some extent. This usually resolves soon after delivery but it can recur in subsequent pregnancies.

Sometimes I have itching all over the body too for few minutes. Mostly at night. I am 21 weeks pregnant. Can this be cholestasis???
