Default Summertime fun

We were at a family picnic today and what fun! Frankly, we didn't plan anythign specific for the kids to do, and they all made their own fun. There was no game boy or anything like that. The kids played in the water - had balloon tosses, etc. It was just so much fun for them.

We just took a night hike to release some possums that we had been raising. We also got to see a large herd of deer and to feed some donkeys. You never know what you'll find at the local state park, and it's all free!

We haven't been on a night hike in years - thank you for reminding me what fun they can be. My son's off to college next year, so I think I'll try to get a couple fall/spring hikes in withhim.

There's a place in Alabama that has glow worms. They take you on a night hike to where there is lots of them and it's like the entire area is just aglow. Pretty cool.

My kids are younger, but we've been hiking at least once a year with them since they were 3. We plan to introduce camping this year, even with a new baby. I want to study and area and then visit there and camping is the least expensive way to do that.

I miss hiking and camping (especially pre-West Nile Virus). My husband isn't one for doing outdoorsy-type things.

I don't think you can go onto park land here at night and do night hikes, but that would be fun. I've been going hiking every day with the kids up until my car died two weeks ago. Now I'm stuck in the house and its driving me mad.

I love outdoor activities as it keeps the activity and most of the time, it allows the participants to connect with each other.
