Thumbs up Re: How long to wait before you have another child?

I've often wondered the same thing. My lil sis and I are 4 years apart, we never got a long she was just too young while I was growing up. But now we're fairly close. It's weird sometimes because people think we're twins. Also, now she's dating some people that I went to HS with, it's all to weird to hear about her stories because I pipe in and say, well so and so was such and such back in HS. My older brother is 15 years older than me and we were pretty close growing up. Now he has a family of his own and has moved away so we don't talk much. I think 2-3 years is about right.

I would agree with you that 2-3 years is about right. Although I think it is always hard for the first child to now have to share your attention, no matter how old they are.

My step-son is 10 and his mother just had a new baby (5 months old) and we jsut had a baby (3 months old). The ten year old is great with them. He likes to help out and just adores both of his little sisters.

I had wanted to have two children close in age (within 2 years of each other), but our dd is now 3 years old so there goes that plan. Dh and I want another kid, but are worried about finances and how another one will affect our schooling (we are both in college right now). I get a little bummed out about us not having another one, but also am worried that if the kids are too far apart in age that they won't have a solid relationship.

At least a couple of years sounds good to me, too. I know someone who
used potty training as a yard stick. She never wanted to be pregnant while potty training the last child, and she didn't want two in diapers. When one was trained seemed a good time to start trying for another.

We like the stair step (two years apart) and hope to fill our gap with an adopted sibling group and then maybe add one more of our own as well.

My sisters and I were two years apart and I thought that was the perfect age difference. My daughter is 15 months now and we are going to start trying to get pregnant this month, so they will be about 2 years apart.
