In the office I worked at prior to my job now, a young girl initiated a positive workplace environement before she got pregnant. there were a large nubmber of women in the office and she worked to geet a seperate area for hte m to breastfeed in private, and even initiated a day care program. When she became pregnant, this was already in place!

That's good that she could do that at her job. But not many workplaces are open to women bringing their children around, or breastfeeding, or anything else. It's one of the reasons I had to switch careers. After working for 11 years in television I had to stop because the demanding work schedule was interfering with my parenting. I would sometimes have to pick up my son from school and go right back to work with him. It was awful. Now I am a school teacher and our schedules are much more in sync.

I think that lady was very lucky... but you have to see it from the employer's viewpoint as well. Why should a business owner want a bunch of kids & babies in the office? They have to pay for someone to watch them, more insurance costs, and your employees would be going to check on or feed their babies every few hours.
