Re: Breastfeeding in Public
Persoanlly I would do it in a bathroom. But I am all for women breastfeeding in public and I give them a huge hand for being so brave.

Re: Breastfeeding in Public
I was unable to breastfeed either of my children because of medical problems... But I have to say that I think I would not be comfortable breast-feeding in public. The park, yeah, if there is no one around... but not in the Mall or shopping center where people are just walking by.
I do believe I would go into a family restroom or somewhere out of the flow of traffic.

Re: Breastfeeding in Public
I breast fed both my kids for a year each. The most comfortable place for me was in the car. No one really even knows what you're doing if anyone even gets near you. If the car was too far away the restroom was always fine too. There is more traffic, but most woman understand and think it's great. I nursed so long that I would breastfeed in a lot of places I thougt I never would. In the back of churches, at the kitchen table, computer, etc. as long as you are covered up it's not a big deal to me.

Re: Breastfeeding in Public
I refuse to feed my baby in a restroom. I think it's gross and degrading. I did that with my first daughter before I worked up the courage to breastfeed publicly. I do try to sit in an out of the way place, but I will breastfeed wherever I need to! I will say that I deeply grateful that the children's museum and the zoo that I frequent both have nursing rooms with chairs and toddler toys. Those are wonderful!

Re: Breastfeeding in Public
I forgot to mention that I also breastfed my kids in dressing rooms. If we were in Wal-Mart or someplace like that I'd feed them in the dressing room because I knew I'd at least have a place to sit and they usually gave me a handicap room so I could fit the stroller and everything. It worked good for me.

Re: Breastfeeding in Public
I just found it hard to breastfeed in front of the people, in public, unless there is really no other hidden place to stay to do it. Perhaps I can do that in the restroom or in the car but so hard in the malls or parks. It doesn't seem to be proper at all for me.

Re: Breastfeeding in Public
I used to be so modest then with nursing my kids I just started to feel like that was the way God intended us to provide for our young ones so I shouldn't feel ashamed. Of course I didn't flaunt it and was always covered up and hidden.
