Teething hint
None of my children would ever take the frozen teething rings, so when teeth time came it could be miserable - until a friend suggested frozen waffels. Cut into quarters, this little beauties worked great. Now, Eggos had a leggo brand frozen waffel that comen in little precut shapes - perfect for little hands.
I tried the orajel (not sure of spelling) and my son screamed like a banshee. Later I had an occasion to use it myself and I understood immediately his reaction. It felt like my whole face went numb. Bad enough when you know what is going on. Completely frightening when you can't understand.

Re: Teething hint
My eldest would never take a teething ring either. I would put her favorite treats in the freezer and then dole them out when she fussed. They have incentive to chew on it and the coolness is soothing.

Re: Teething hint
Did you ever have any choking concerns with these methods or are the waffles big enough to avoid that problem? My son is just starting to teeth and he wants nothing to do with the teething rings.

Re: Teething hint
One thing we used is we found mini-sized popsicles. Small enough for her to hold and eat, but of course no choking hazard there.

Re: Teething hint
The waffels crumble apart, so the cold is soothing on his teeth and makes for a nice snack. Our six month old is cutting four or five teeth right now, and he loves them.

Re: Teething hint
I used the gerber teething gel - can't get it anymore int he flavor we had and my son loved it. WE also did the mini popsicle and used a lot of Zwieback toast. THe frozen teething rings never worked - who wants to suck on cold plastic?

Re: Teething hint
We used frozen slices of watermelon. They pretty much disintigrate, so no choking hazard. Being so juicy, they can get a bit messy though. My boys love watermelon.

Re: Teething hint
Wow - I forgot about the frozen watermelon. My son loved that as well. Thanks for bringing back a memory long lost. There was just nothing better on a hot summer day and a hose was always nearby for clean up afterward.

Lol! Yes, you definately needed a hose to clean up afterward. People asking "Why is your son's shirt pink?" Watermelon juice!
My mother-in-law was always partial to frozen french fries - the big fat ones.

Re: Teething hint
I hadn't thought of that one. I guess when you come right down to it, any frozen food would work. We are through alot of that stage this go around. This guy cut five teeth all at once. Wow! He's got four on top and two on bottom and want's to eat anything he can get his hands on.
