I agree that I love my kids and like them around. I want my kids included in most activities that I do especially family things, but sometimes I need to remember who I am besides a mom. Being a mom is a majority of who I am, but there are other aspects of me that are good and I need to remember those sometimes too. My hubby and I like to get out a little bit everyone few months (or at least twice a year) and remember who we married and why we wanted to start our lives together in the first place.

jaescafe, i agree, that is a very good and healthy way to look at it, not saying that everyone else is wrong, but unfortunately, our kids will all grow up, and we can't feel totally lost when they move out, then we're back where we started, just us and our partners.

Thanks harleysneak. I sometimes worry I'm not getting my point across like I would like to and I'm glad that others sometimes anyways seem to understand what I'm saying lol. Yep, it's a long ways away for me, but someday our kids will be all grown up and leave the nest and it will just be the hubby and me again. That is really weird to think about.

Just a quick question for those with older kids (older than say 5 years old) how their kids are with seperation? How do you think your kids will do at the first girl/boy scout sleepover? Or if something happens to you (which wqould be trauma enough) and they have never been apart from you for any extended period of time?
