Default How Much Baby Food?

My son has just recently started on baby foods (about a month ago). He absolutely loves it. My mother tells me to give him whatever he'll eat of the baby food, then give him a bottle to top him off. My problem is, Alex will eat the whole thing if I let him!! His appetite is amazing. Does anyone know of an estimation of how much baby food he should be getting at this stage or should I just continue to stop after about a third of the jar?

At this stage I would go ahead and feed him as much as he wants. My eldest went through a brief phase where she would polish off a whole jar of baby food during a feeding, and take her bottle on top of it. Her consumption soon balanced out though.

I would have to agree and say to feed them as much as they want, from everything I've read, babies will regulate their own diets and over a couple days, weeks, or months time will make sure they have a balanced diet. Too bad we can't still naturally do that as adults.

As long as they are actually eating, let them eat. When they start shooting the food back out of their mouth, it's time to stop. A baby wants to eat when he is hungry, drink when he is thirst, and sleep when he is tired. If only we could all be so simple.

Keep in mind that a baby will probably eat more when he is going through a growth sput. Just play each feeding by ear.

I never thought to stop my baby from eating ?? I agree with the others here, let him eat what he wants. Why would you stop him?
