Default Average Feeding

Just curious as to how much your babies are taking at this point? My son is five months, he's been on starter solids about a month. He usually takes one jar of fruit (smallest size) and then four ounces of formula. He usually then eats about six oz of formula with cereal around noon. Juice and about half a jar of veggies mid afternoon, six oz of formula around 5 or 6. Then six oz of formula with cereal before bed at around 8.

He has cut back considerably since starting solids as he used to eat 8 oz of formula every 3 to 4 hours!!

That sounds alot like how much my eldest was eating at that age. He sounds right on target!

He does sound right on target. Solids will fill him upmore and stay in his system longer so he will need less of them. He will let you know when he's ready for more and don't be surprised when the growth spurts hit and his appetite increases dramatically!

I just pulled out my eldest's baby book and checked the 'diet' section (I wrote everything down for my first kid) and it was really similar to what your son is eating at that age.
It makes sens that he'll eat less often. Solids are more nutritionally and calorically dense.

Thanks for the assurances ladies. With everything he went through as a one month old, I think I may be a bit paranoid about his eating habits.

Okay, I've always known it, but reading all this stuff reminds me of how little my daughter is eating. At five months, she would eat about half a small jar of fruits or veggies, 1 Tbsp of cereal and about 32 oz of formula a day. She still isn't a big eater, but is starting to eat more.

5 months is a right time to start eating solids but in our country, they start earlier
