Default Constant eye infections!

My daughter has been fighting eye infections since birth. We finally got the last one cleared up with a very expensive antibiotic a few weeks ago, and now she has just come down with another one! She's seeing a pediatric opthamologist next week because I think blocked tear ducts are the problem, but in the meantime it's off to the pediatrician again for us. I hope we can get this fixed soon.

How old is your daughter? My daughter had blocked tear ducts when she was really little (newborn). Dr just told me to keep a warm washclothe on it and after a bit it did go away, but it sure does look yucky.

Just got back from the dr. She does have blocked tear ducts and that's why she keeps getting infections. We see the opthamologist next week, I'm thinking they may unblock her ducts sooner than later due to all the infections.

We never had to deal with this - when you say they will unblock the ducts, do you mean by surgery? Maybe in the meantime you can try the warm washcloths suggestion...

From what I understand, unblocking tear ducts is a simple procedure that can be performed in the office. I've been told that it's painful, however.

Alex had blocked tear ducts when we first brought him home. We dealt with it for about three weeks before they finally cleared up on their own. Let us know how everything goes, and hope it goes quickly for the little angel.

I wish you guys luck and I hope that it is not too painful for you little on. It always seemed to be worse (the blocked tear duct) when they cry and if the surgery is painful I am sure there will be tears, but it will all be worth it in the end. Please let us know how it goes.
