Default Cradle Cap AGAIN?

Alex and I need help again. The past few weeks I've been noticing more and more yellow spot on his head, just below what little hair he has. It seems to be getting worse as we're in the middle of heat wave in Georgia and he sweats quite a bit. I try to keep his head wiped off and clean whenever I can, and I do what I can when he's in the bath, but my old remedies don't seem to be working. Anyone have any ideas on maybe something I haven't tried? I haven't used any over the counter cradle cap stuff since I've always been told it goes away on it's own eventually and previously he's always been just fine with keeping it clean and moisturized after baths.

My dd had cradle cap for a little over a year. I felt so embarassed; at every check-up I thought her doctor would put hand-cuffs on me for being a bad mommy, lol. I couldn't get the stuff off no matter what, but as she got older and started enjoying her bath-times more, the cradle cap came off on its own. Now, she's got a beautiful curly blonde head of hair (that I'm so envious of). Don't stress too much about it.

Is it just on his scalp or does he have any dry skin elsewhere?

I can tell you that I used a special oil rub I got from a day spa for cradle cap. It had lavender in it. I applied it liberally and not only did it smell wonderful, but baby's scalp was nice and smooth.

Other than looking bad, is there anything wrong with cradle cap? Do I need to worry about my son having a mild case?

Are you sure that it is cradle cap and not psoriasis or eczema? My youngest son had bad cradle cap as a baby and after I got rid of it, it appeared to be coming back. It was really psoriasis which manifests itself in scaly whitish or yellowish patches, sometimes with red margins. My son still gets patches of psoriasis from the size of a pencil eraser up to the size of a half-dollar coin on his scalp and body. Vit D ointment and tea tree oil help to get rid of them, as does a gentle abrasive to slough the scales away.

See, that's what I was thinking. I was wondering if maybe he was coming down with eczema. Let us know how he is doing!

Yah, perhaps that is a kind of a skin disease coz cradle caps usually happens only after birth and if it happens again, it must be another kind of skin problem like eczema.

I was thinking along the same lines. I didn't think cradle cap continued on like that. Have you had a chance to check with your doctor yet?
