Default Shoes for Non-Walkers?

I am always interested in knowing why people buy shoes for their non-walking babies. I can understand those soft shoe-looking bootie type things for fancy dress up occasions like holidays or weddings or something, but not for everyday wear.

Does anyone put shoes on their non-walking babies on a regular basis?

Robeez!!!

I cannot say enough great things about these. They are perfect for a baby just learning to walk, they stay on little feet, they are soft and comfortable, on and on!!! I buy them for birthday gifts for all the little babies in my life. Everyone raves about them. Here's a link to their site:

I don't even put socks on mine. You'd think that babies that can't walk wouldn't be able to get their little feet so dirty.

I did have an interesting experience once when I was out with my oldest and didn't have shoes on him (he was still small enough to carry around in the baby seat/carrier) I was told that not putting shoes on him would make his feet grow wrong People are funny.

I haven't bought shoes for mine yet but I will come winter. We get some really frigid weather here and we have to keep her little tooties warm!

Well, I always put socks on mine when it was chilly. Not having shoes on make their feet grow wrong? That is one of the silliest things I've ever heard. Although I did have a lady tell me once that I should be socks, shoes and more clothes on my baby (he was just in a patterned onesie in the 90+ degree summer day) so he "didn't get ideas about running around naked when he was grown." Hee hee.

Some people say such funny things. I had someone comment once that I didn't have shoes and socks on my non walking baby. When she was younger, I did occassionally put shoes and socks on her when we went out, but it wasn't an everyday thing.

I'd always heard that PUTTING shoes on them too early, especially if they are the incorrect size, can cause their feet to grow incorrectly, not the other way around. It's too funny how many things you hear these days. I do put tennis shoes on Alex every once in a while when we go out, usually just when it's a nice dinner with family or something, not when we're just running around town on our own.

I swear by Isabootie. They are like a more flexible Robeez shoes. They are almost suede-like in their appearance but completely bend with the baby's foot. They are machine washable, and they STAY ON.

You're not alone there... I always wondered the same thing. One of the things I got as a baby "gift" in a community gift packet was a coupon for a free pair of those big, bulky infant shoes. I don't think I wore them on my daughter even once. I sure could have used free diapers or something!

Ditto on the free diapers, and a continuing supply would be nice as well.

It never suprises me what people think and that they share their opinions even with perfect strangers.

I don't put socks on the baby because the heat index is over 100. Besides, it's hard for him to do the army crawl if he has socks on. He just kindof sits in one place going through the motions.
