FOr those who are debating and looking for ways to cut their living expenses (in every area), the TIGHTWAD GAZETTE books are really great. SOmetimes, they may get a little extreme, but overall they are reallly great.

For adult company, I find play days, club meetings, and church groups are great. I also like to open my home for company every chance I get! The kids get social interaction, mom gets social interaction, and dad meets other dad's and finds out that we are not the only ones on the boat!

Yay! Tightwad Gazette! That book is great, but you are right... it does get a little extreme at times.

I'm divorced and I have 2 boys, one with autism. I HAVE to stay home with my children. I homeschool and it is extremely important to me.

I have found that the best way to make money at home is not by joining some group or website, but by making your own business or website and learning how to market it yourself. I joined a lot of "earn with us" type schemes before figuring this out.

Melos - sounds like you certainly have your hands full - and that you have a great deal of experience that you've drawn from. God speed!

If you live within your means you can swing it. Heck I'm a single mom and I stay home! I work out of my house but I'm essentially a full time mommy first and foremost.

I still would want to earn while I stay at home for my kids and online opportunities for earning are very useful in this matter.
