C-Section Issues

I am so frustrated I can't believe it. After FIVE MONTHS, my c-section incision still hasn't closed completely. There is about a one cm section that is still open, and it's about one cm deep. I did have some issues with fluid a week after the delivery, so the incision had to be reopened (just the top section) to drain the fluid. (Doc says it was because I had such a long, strenuous labor before the operation) A few months later it was sutured closed again because it wasn't healing very fast on it's own. Now it's back to having an open hole. What gives!!!???

One of my friends had similar issues with her incision area. Have you been back to the doc for this yet? I know three months out her site was finally starting to really heal.

I would get a second opinion immediately. I had a c-section and then had my tubes tied and they went into the same section and I didn't have any difficulty like that. After five months, you should be completely healed. SOmetimes, a physician/surgeon just doesn't want to admit a mistake - however, you should not be having to deal with this issue still.

Thanks guys. I did see my doc about this, she says she didn't see any evidence of infection, but that otherwise there should be no reason for this still to be a problem. So she gave me a round of antibiotics just to be on the safe side, and I've been doing wet/dry bandages to the area. (Small guaze soaked in saline). After doing that just a few days it seems to be almost totally healed. I have NO idea why it was still an issue though. Guess I just like to take my time about everything!

I'm so sorry you've had this trouble.
I think a second opinion is a good idea.
Also, the infection may have less to do with a long labor than it had to do with the doctors sterile technique.
