Should you bring a babysitter on vacation?

If changing diapers isn't your idea of a vacation, bring a babysitter along on your next trip.

I would have loved to bring a babysitter on vacation when the kids were younger, but we couldn't afford it. We could barely afford the vacation itself let alone pay someone to help with the kids. We just had to deal with it ourselves just like we did with everything else.

That's great if you can afford it. Otherwise you're on your own. However, I think at some hotels or resorts they do offer babysitting services if you and your spouse need a quite romantic evening alone. I would check with the conceirge

Hmm... You have kids? You include them in your life. Taking a babysitter on vacation (besides meaning you have lots of money!) seems to say that you are planning on being away from your kid more than with. I personally think its somehow wrong.

Kids are part of the family and when having a vacation, I believe that they should have this vacation, too. Husband and wife does not live as couple anymore, they have kids with them. Unless of course, you need a sort of a second honeymoon or a retreat with each other alone and you can afford a babysitter, then go get one.

I don't feel guilty about wanting to take my kids on a vacation and have a sitter with. I want to spend time with my kids of course, but I'd like a little adult fun too. I see nothing wrong with wanting to go out at night with your spouse. The kids are most likely sleeping so I don't see what the problem would be. Oh, by the way I'm a stay at home mom and with my kids all the time so a vacation with a babysitter would actually be a vacation for me.

I don't think I'd ever bring a babysitter on vacation. That's what I consider family time. That being said, I don't mind getting a sitter to go out for an evening or even a weekend away with my husband. These times alone help to strengthen our relationship and my feeling sis that the base relatgionship of our family is my husband and I and strengthening that, strengthens our family as well.

I would never bring a babysitter on a vacation. (Especially when mine is my MIL, lol.) Seriously, a vacation is supposed to be family time. Why bother having a family if you don't want to include your little ones? A babysitter can be useful for a night out with the spouse or for an emergency, but beyond that I say use that vacation to bond with the entire family.

I have to reiterate to agree with Amy ^^ NO problem getting a sitter for a night out or even a weekend away. But if you are going on a family vacation, that means the WHOLE family to me... and no one extra.
