Smile Official bf/gf and dating line ?

I've always been blurred between official bf/gf and dating line that sometimes I have mistaken for both. What are the general triggers once you past the "just dating line".

I was once confused that when we "broke up" she didnt think it was a break up bc we were never bf/gf in the first place. It affected me deeply, obv she didn't think it was.

* It lasted 4 months.
* We dated and saw each other twice a week.
* We held hands whilst we were out.
* Kissed (french) and cuddled.
* Emailed and called each other daily.
* Exchanged gifts on a regular basis.

But we didnt actually tell our friends OR meet our respective parents.

You be the judge.

You were bf/gf. However, if your S.O. didn't think that was the case then the lines of communication weren't very open. To me anything beyond a week, and the things you described as happening, qualifies for bf/gf. Meeting the parents and friends comes a little later, maybe even after six months of dating.

If you didn't think you were bf/gf, how would you define your relationship to her?

Because seeing the points you made about your relationship, I would've thought she was your girlfriend. Especially since you see her twice a week and stayed in contact with her daily.

I personally don't blame her thinking that she was in a relationship with you.

you didn't even ask her! that's why you both weren't official. any "couple" can do all the above and still not be in a relationship. don't be affected too deeply by it - you'll get over the fake relationship in a few days.

i'm with the girl on this one.

That relationship is called MU, short term for Mutual Understanding. When you have a relationship like this and you get to the point of being serious, clarify things out when the two of you are ready and are feeling so close to each other. In this case, both of you can make it 'official'.

Its so strange to me that things have to be verbally clarified these days. Back when I was dating/going out with people/whatever, you kissed someone more than once and actually went somewhere together, you were dating. If you went out repeatedly, you were bf/gf - no big discussion was needed.
"Friends with benefits" just did not exist as a common practice.

I agree with the whole point that there needs to be some communication or some "asking" of being bf/gf. People may date several people repeatedly, yet they are not bf/gf. I guess this is just the way things are today.

I agree with you. Not everything has to be verbally clarified. There's a point when you just know. Looking at how long this type of relationship went on, you two were definately a bf/gf. I think she's not a nice person if she does this to guys. Sooner or later karma will catch up with her

The whole thing about "Friends with benefits" is just messed up. People nowadays that engage in that whole practice have some sort of mental hangup whether they admit it or not.
