2 Important Tips For New Parents Facing Diaper Duty

Diaper Duty Got You Down?

Although it may sound like a simple task, changing the diaper of a newborn can be daunting for new parents who have never practiced on a living, breathing being before. If you’re getting ready to welcome your first child into the world, here are some steps to make that first diaper change go smoothly.

1st – Stock up.
As a new parent, you’ll need to arm yourself for just about anything. If you think you need only a diaper and wipe to change a baby, think again. First-time parents often make the mistake of being unprepared during a changing session, which can cause them to be extremely overwhelmed. Long before the baby lets out his or her first cry, a diaper changing station should be well-stocked with diapers, wipes, towels, rash creams, baby powder, a change of clothing and a toy to distract little ones with. Remember – once you begin you will not be able to walk away to look for needed items, so there is no such thing as being over-prepared.
