The only quote I've ever heard from a mom that I didn't like was "I hope your children grow up to be just like you, so you have as much trouble as I have had with you." Children are such a blessing and this line has been said by some mom's and I don't think they even realize how damaging a line like this can be...

I remembered one quotation but I can't quite remember how it was exactly written but I like it. It is about having time for our children as this is the most important thing that you can give them.

The quote I hear from MY mother most of the time is "Thank God I did not have boys!" (She had 3 girls, I have 2 boys, she thinks they are crazy!)

This one always bugged me terribly, too. I never understood how
anyone could say it... but there are others just as damaging... "I can't
wait for you to get married and get out of the house" "I can't wait for
school to start to get these little [name your own bad term ) out
of my hair"... etc. I cringe when I hear things like that.

Oh boy! I absolutely HATE when I'm talking to other mothers with children my age and they go into the "I can't wait till school starts again."
I have been guilty - once, when I was in a very bad mood - of replying to a woman's tirade about how she can't wait to get them out from under foot, with "Well, if you didn't want children around, why did you have them?"
