I would come off immediately, and use condoms or barrier method in the meantime, to give your body the best chance of getting back to normal, before trying.

That sounds like a good idea. Do you happen to know approx how long to go off birth control before your body starts to get back to normal?

Yes, six months is normal. But it may take longer if you've been on birth control for a long time. It was learning about getting the pill out of my system the I found out how it worked and what it did to my body and decided not to go back on it.

Possibly, I was on it for 11 years, and took 5 months to get pregnant after coming off.

I agree with Kelkat, you should talk to your doctor and switch to non hormonal BC until you are ready.
