Default Fertility drugs: Choosing how many to carry

Just wondering - when I was on my fertility drugs, I had to have made a decision with my fertility specialist how many babies I was willing to carry. This was I think the toughest part of my process and I'm wondering if anyone else has had this same experience?

I never had to make this decision. I'm guessing my doctor didn't want to bring it up unless it came down to that. However, it is something my partner and I have talked about and it definitely is a very hard decision to think about.

Harleysneak: If you don't mind my asking, are you through the fertility drug process now or still in the middle of it? To give a bit more information, I did only have one fetus, however we'd decided I would carry two based on the sharp increase in mortality rate as the number increased. It was very hard, because it's not anything I've known a "normal pregnancy" to have to choose.

I don't know that I could make that decision. That is so hard. My cousin carried triplets successfully but I'd be scared to carry more than that.

I haven't had to go through this myself, but it would be a difficult decision to make. I suppose in the end I would have to base it on my doctor's recommendation and the number of which I think I could give a full and loving life to.

Those are all good factors and a big one for us was the declining mortality rate with each additional child.

Amy, to answer your question. I am far through the first time we went through this as I have a beautiful 14 month old girl. However, I am getting ready to start the process again in September.
