Smile Old Wives Tales for Boy or Girl

Okay, I'm sure all of you have heard at least one old wives' tale on what to do different if you are trying for a boy or a girl. I would love to hear them! I read somewhere that your husband should drink a soda just before sex if you'd like to have a boy, since male sperm are quicker, but die of faster. I guess the idea is the caffeine gives them even more energy! LOL.

I was always told "Eat spicy food!" if you want to have a boy. I don't like spicy food, but - it was funny - while I was pregnant with my first son, the only thing I could eat was hot buffalo wings!

Supposedly if you want a boy you should try right when you start ovulating, for a girl right at the tail end of your ovulation period. Or maybe I have that backwards, LOL!

I have heard the same thing about the ovulation. They say it's because the girl sperms last longer and are more hearty, whereas the boy sperms are gone more quickly.

Okay, so other than waiting until the end of ovulation, and NOT eating spicy foods, anymore surefire tips to conceive a girl? We've got our beautiful boy, so next time we want to try for a beautiful girl! :-)

I asked my mother about some of them (she had 3 girls including me) and she told me the following: eat sweets, put a pink bow under your pillow when trying to conceive, the woman should be more dominant during conception attempts to conceive a girl, and the mom-to-be should carry around a wooden spoon.

LOL! I have two girls and I don't recall doing any of those. Those are really cute!

I remembered my doctor telling me that it is the man who provides the sex of the baby. I wonder if this is true. Well, the telltales are worth talking about

Okay, quick science lesson. Girl chromozones are XX. Boy's are XY. To get a girl, you need two X's. Each sperm is either an X or a Y. So yes, the man does determine the sex of the child. Doesn't matter what you eat, what you were, or how you hold your feet. If a Y gets there first, you get a boy!

But is sure will be fun telling hubby that I'm in charge when it comes to the trying part! Somehow I just don't think he'll mind. :-)
