Default Baby Name Book

A friend of mine has always used a Name Book for the names of her babies (she always have at least 2 names for each of her children) while I didn't use any

Anyone else here who used name books for their babies' names?

My brother and sister in law used a name book for their three kids. It was pretty interesting because it had names from many world cultures, not just traditional American names. I think they found their's at Barnes and Noble. Good luck!

We did not use a baby name book - it just seemed too overwhelming with all those CHOICES! We went with what felt right and ended up with Abram. Good choice - fits him perfectly!

When I was younger - like a teenager - I would LOVE to look through the old baby name book my mother had when she was having my sisters and I. Once I got to having my own children, I didn't use anything like a baby name book. My first son's name came from a fantasy novel - Elric - and my second was decided on when my husband (now ex) finally said "Fine, name him what you want!" in the hospital. - Aiden (before Aiden got so popular too! I thought I was being unusual.

We had our names all picked out for all our kids. Then when we got pregnant, we decided to look in a book and online. We then came up with two more names and the one we finally chose we had found online. So who knows what will happen if we're blessed with another baby!

Hmm.. we really have different ways of getting our babies' names. Others combine the names of the parents, while others prefer that their kids' names start with the same letter. Whatever is the way to name a baby, the important thing is that we think that our kids will like the name we give them.

Yes! I read every baby name book out there when I was pregnant with my second. I was looking for a unique name but it couldn't be too crazy, and it had to "fit" with Adaline and Delia (my stepdaughter and my daughter's names, respectively). After many discarded choices we finally arrived at Caroline. It's not as unique as I wanted but I got vetoed on Violet and Veronica. LOL.

My fav baby name book was the very clever and well-thought-out "Beyond Jennifer and Jason".

Just wondering how much family plays a role in naming your children. YOu know, using the grandparents middle name, etc.

I bought a few baby name books when I was pregnant with my daughter, but when it came right down to choosing one, it wasn't one that I found in there anyhow. But it was sure fun reading those books!

My eldest daughter's middle name is after a deceased aunt. My youngest daughter's middle name is after my husband's beloved great aunt. My stepdaughter's first name is the middle name of my DH's grandmother. Got that? LOL. We try to incorporate family somewhere into each of our children's names.
