Question at home pregnancy tests

I was wondering. How long do you have to wait before you can take one of those at home pregnancy pee test thingies? Can you take it like after a month since your last period?

Thanks

Depending on the brand of test, you can take them up to 5 days before your missed period. I think your best bet is to take it at least one day after your missed period since by then your hormones will usually make themselves very present in the test. So if it has been a month since your last period, I would take a test. Good Luck!!

Thumbs up Re: at home pregnancy tests

Sorry I meant to say its only been a week since my period should have started. It hasn't been a whole month. So I'll probably take the test in the next few days.

Thanks for the reply.

Some tests, like First Response, claim to be able to tell right away. Good luck!!!

Yes, good luck with your test and the First Response seem to be the best for early testing.

I usually take a pregnancy test after a month of delayed period just to make allowance just in case it is really delayed. It has happened many times that we always have false alarm and our money were wasted most of the time (that happened when we were still excited to have a baby). What happened next was my husband not having positive expectations anymore until the time came that there really was.

Most all of them can be done within a day to a week after your missed period as stated above, but it can be expensive to test too soon (if you get a negative, you will amost alwyas go out and get a second test, just to be sure it's not a false reading). Personally, I would give it a few weeks to a month - periods can be late for so many reasons!

My doctor only charges $20 and those things are sure fire. You might check with your doctor or local clinic about their cost.
